Customer:
I have an Inkplate 6 from Crowdsupply (the older version) and want to find a battery locally in Canada since batteries cannot be shipped there. The guide shows that with the JST connector open end facing upwards, the red wire should be on the left. I’m having difficulty finding batteries with this polarity arrangement. Are there cables that extend the connector and flip the wires, or other solutions that don’t require re-soldering? Also, what are the specific voltage and Wh requirements I should look for? This is my first time purchasing a battery like this.

Soldered Support:
You’re right to be careful about soldering to a battery, as it can cause permanent damage and be potentially dangerous. Good that you checked the documentation before connecting.
I’m unaware of a connector that flips the polarity. However, there’s a workaround: some users have reversed battery polarity by lifting the plastic tabs which hold the wires in JST connectors. See post #7 here: https://lowpowerlab.com/forum/currentranger/it-appears-not-all-jst-connectors-are-the-same/ and this discussion: Why isn't battery polarity always the same in JST pins? - Hardware - Particle for more information on JST connector variations.
You need li-ion batteries with protection circuits. The specification is: Nominal voltage: 3.7V.
