Inkplate 6 damaged by reverse battery connection - component repair

Customer:

I fried my Inkplate by connecting the battery in reverse. Will this destroy the e-ink screen or is there a chance it only damaged the power/charging circuit and the screen itself or other components could still be salvaged?

Soldered Support:

Most likely, just the power circuit is fried: battery charger, voltage regulator, auto-select circuit. If you want, I could provide you with part numbers for those if you are able to change them.

Customer:

Are these components possible to hand solder? I have a good quality iron but not much experience working with small surface mount parts. I’m certainly willing to try though. If it is just the power supply that’s bad, can I supply power directly to the 3v3 pads on the board? How much current does it draw?

Soldered Support:

You can get THT 2.2uF, which is large enough to solder. If you can do SMD, there are plenty of options. Where can you most easily source parts from?

Customer:

I can order from digikey.com.
