Inkplate 6 ESP32 upload fails with "Failed to connect" error on Windows 11

Customer:

I keep getting the error “A fatal error occurred: Failed to connect to ESP32: No serial data received.” when trying to upload an example sketch with Arduino IDE on Windows 11. I uninstalled and reinstalled the CH340 drivers and it still doesn’t work. In Device Manager under Ports it shows up correctly as USB-SERIAL CH340 (COM16). I think it may be a hardware problem.

Soldered Support:

Could you please try lowering the upload speed to 115200 in Arduino IDE in the Tools menu and then giving it a try? Make sure you’re using the correct Inkplate board definition for your board.

If that doesn’t work try Arduino IDE Legacy, available at https://www.arduino.cc/en/software. Install the board definitions as normal then try it.
