Inkplate 6 not working on battery, always reads 0.00V

Customer:

I received an Inkplate 6 about a week ago and it works great overall. However, I’ve tried two different batteries and neither works at all. One is a 3.7v 680mAh battery, and when it didn’t work, I ordered a new 3.7v 3000mAh battery. The second battery doesn’t work either. When I run the battery+temperature sketch, it perpetually reads 0.00v for voltage and 27C for temperature. Any suggestions for troubleshooting? If it’s a device defect, I can just use this one wired while I’m waiting on another Inkplate.

Soldered Support:

Does your Inkplate run on the battery at all? Does it restart or show any unexpected behaviour when powered only by battery? Or is the only problem that you cannot read the battery voltage? Can you send a photo of it - the JST connector voltage might be wrong as well.

Customer:

No, the Inkplate does not work on battery at all. I’m attaching a photo with both batteries.

The Inkplate 6 should be working with those batteries. This is the first time someone has reported an error like this. Do you own a multimeter? Can you measure the voltage on the VIN and 3V3 pins after the battery is plugged in and the switch is in the on position? This will help us understand the source of the problem.
