Inkplate 6 Plus touchscreen, display, and frontlight stopped working

Customer:

I purchased an Inkplate 6 Plus. The touchscreen, display, and frontlight recently failed on the device. It was sitting in a drawer for a while before this happened. I’m not sure how to debug this.

Soldered Support:

It’s unlikely all of these failed at the same time, so this is likely a simple issue to resolve.

Try these debugging steps:

  1. Update the Inkplate library and board definitions to the latest version
  2. Ensure you’re using the correct board definition when uploading code. There are two versions: e-Radionica Inkplate 6PLUS and Soldered Inkplate 6PLUS. Use the board definition which you used before when it was working. To figure out which one you have, see this quick guide in our docs: Inkplate Arduino — Inkplate docs documentation
  3. Make sure you’re uploading the basic examples (in the ‘basic’ folder). These examples run without any need for a WiFi connection and they don’t have any conditions that need to be met in order to refresh the screen, so they should always work.
  4. If none of these work, re-connect the flat cables on the back of the device. The cables are delicate and you should be careful, but they can be re-connected with no problem. Un-latch the connectors, remove the flat cables and re-attach them. See the picture below which indicates the spot where to un-latch the connectors.

Let me know of your results.
