Inkplate 6 upload fails with "Unable to verify flash chip connection" error

Customer:

I have an Inkplate 6 that I’ve been using to build a door sign that loads a calendar. The board was working, but now uploading code fails with this error:

A fatal error occurred: Unable to verify flash chip connection (Invalid head of packet (0xE0): Possible serial noise or corruption.).

Failed uploading: uploading error: exit status 2

Any ideas what’s causing this?

Soldered Support:

If the board operates but won’t let code be uploaded, it’s likely a communication issue rather than a hardware failure. Try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Use a different USB cable and different USB port, preferably USB-C
  2. Check if you have connected anything else to the board - sometimes a short can interrupt serial communication
  3. Check if the board appears in your device manager as a Serial COM port (you can see this in Arduino)
  4. Lower the upload speed to 115200 in the ‘Tools’ menu

Try these and let me know if the upload works.

Fixed it - the issue was a bug in the WiFi-HTTP-Result code, bad programming, and the upload speed setting.
