Customer:
I might attempt to hack it on top of adafruit_gfx. If this was me, I would maybe consider how important API consistency across the boards is for the ecosystem. And I would maybe challenge the premise that high level abstractions are unimportant. But that’s just based on my use case.
Do you have any plans to open a user forum? I think that could be useful once there are enough users.
Also, I see SWD pins on the board. Should I expect smooth sailing if I try to use them instead of the serial flashing? Any guides or write-ups on that?

A user forum is planned for the near future, but we do not currently have a set date.
Regarding the SWD interface, it is really plug and play. You just have to connect the GND, 3V3, SWCLK and SWDIO pins to the corresponding pins on the ST-LINK programmer and flash it using either the STM32CubeProgrammer or ArduinoIDE. If you want to flash it over SWD in Arduino, under Tools->Upload Method select STM32CubeProgrammer (SWD) and you should be good to go with the upload.
Regarding LVGL, I agree with you. 6MOTION could also utilize its features greatly with its larger PSRAM. We are a very small team and I hope that in the near future we will release the LVGL version of the Inkplate MOTION library.
