MicroPython library support for LSM6DS3 and battery monitoring on NULA ESP32

Customer:

I want to use MicroPython as the main programming language for my ESP32 project. I have several sensors from your store that only come with Arduino libraries, while the Inkplate 5 already has a Python library. Are you developing MicroPython libraries for other products? Is it easy to convert Arduino libraries using AI tools?

Soldered Support:

We are currently developing MicroPython modules for most of our products. Please specify which sensors you need MicroPython support for so we can prioritize them. You can quite easily port an Arduino library with AI tools. Our currently supported sensors with MicroPython modules are listed here: GitHub - SolderedElectronics/Soldered-MicroPython-Modules: A collection of micropython libraries for Soldered products · GitHub

Customer:

I need a MicroPython library for the Accelerometer & Gyroscope LSM6DS3 6-DOF breakout (SKU: 333115). I can confirm that the Inkplate 5 Gen2 (SKU: 333333) and Rotary encoder board with easyC (SKU: 333188) already have working MicroPython libraries, correct? Also, I have a question about the NULA ESP32 board: does its on-board battery charger sense or estimate the current state of charge of the connected battery?

Soldered Support:

Yes, both the Inkplate 5V2 and the rotary encoder have MicroPython libraries. The LSM6DS3 currently isn’t supported and will be added in a few months. However, there is a MicroPython library for it developed by Pimoroni available here which should work with our breakout. The NULA boards have an on-board battery charger but it cannot communicate the SOC or voltage level to the board. You could connect the VBAT pin to a voltage divider and connect it to an analog pin on the board. A similar approach is used to read battery voltage on Inkplate devices, which is available here.
