MQ137 Ammonia Sensor Breakout prevents Raspberry Pi from booting

Customer:

I have a Raspberry Pi Zero W with your easyC adapter and the MQ137. When I plug in the MQ137 sensor, it keeps the Pi from turning on, but when I disconnect it I can boot normally. I am using a high quality 3 amp microUSB Raspberry Pi charger.

This sounds like a pinout issue - something could be shorted. You’re using the MQ137 Ammonia Sensor Breakout with easyC and connecting it to Raspberry Pi with the easyC adapter. I would first check that the pins are connected correctly, as that’s the most common cause of this issue.

Yes, I believe I have it hooked correctly. See attached photos.

I see - you have the Raspberry Pi easyC adapter. Looking at your photos, the GND pin on the connector needs to align with the GND pin on your Raspberry Pi. The GND pin is marked with a white square on the PCB. From what I can see in your photos, that pin is currently connected to 3V3 on your Raspberry Pi, which is causing the reset. The connector on the adapter appears to be mounted upside down. The GND pin (marked with a white square) should align with the GND pin on the Pi.

You’re right, the adapter was backwards. It appears the connector was mounted upside down on the adapter.
