Customer:
I need help selecting components and planning how to connect an Arduino with a SIM800L module and a sensor. I’ve seen instructions with diagrams showing different ways to power the SIM module, but I cannot find the necessary components in your catalog. I understand I’ll need a battery, a voltage regulator, and possibly a capacitor to make the battery last longer, especially since the SIM module needs 2A when connecting to the network. Can you recommend a set of components I could order to make this work?

You can power the SIM800L directly from a Li-ion battery, but when the battery voltage drops below 3.7 V the module will stop working. You can use a charger to recharge the battery and use the module again. To power the module when the battery voltage is below 3.7 V, you would need to use a buck-boost converter, but unfortunately this is not currently in our catalog, though it will be available in the future.

SIM800L koji ste naveli možete napajati direktno s Li-ion baterije npr. https://e-radionica.com/hr/li-ion-baterija-1200mah.html, ali kada Vam napon na bateriji padne ispod 3.7 V modul više neće raditi, no zato možete pomoću ovo punjača Soldered: Open-Source Electronics, Boards, Sensors & Modules – Soldered Electronics napuniti bateriju te koristiti ponovno modul.

I have a general question about powering this module in the field, where it would need to report information only when a sensor state changes. Do you have any advice on how to set up the power supply to last longer in that scenario, and whether a Li-ion battery is the right choice for this use case?

Unfortunately we only stock Li-ion batteries, but there are different battery technologies available, such as non-rechargeable batteries with large capacities. The best advice I can give is to research battery options online.
