Writing to the 4 counter registers on Rotary Encoder

Customer:

Is it possible to write to the 4 counter registers on the Soldered Rotary Encoder? I’d like to be able to program the counters to predetermined values if desired. If this is allowed, what is the sequence required to program them?

Soldered Support:

Yes, this is possible. The firmware running on the ATTiny is available here: Soldered-Rotary-Encoder-With-easyC-Arduino-Library/extras/attiny_firmware at dev · SolderedElectronics/Soldered-Rotary-Encoder-With-easyC-Arduino-Library · GitHub (on the dev branch of the library).

You can fully customize the code and even change what you send over I2C. You will also need to change the driver on the Arduino side to accommodate these changes: Soldered-Rotary-Encoder-With-easyC-Arduino-Library/src/Rotary-encoder-easyC-SOLDERED.cpp at dev · SolderedElectronics/Soldered-Rotary-Encoder-With-easyC-Arduino-Library · GitHub

The ATTiny is programmed via a UPDI programmer with the pins available on the top of the board.
